Frequently Asked Questions
SKH Infrastructure Coatings
Protecting Structural Assets & Extending Envelope Lifespan.
Every building substrate presents unique failure risksfrom thermal bridging to atmospheric erosion. We provide targeted technical solutions to restore, protect, and preserve your property without invasive teardowns.
Thermal Efficiency & U-Values
The Problem: Complex U-value calculations confuse property owners who just want lower heating costs.
The Fix: A lower U-value means less heat loss. Applying a thin, breathable cork layer creates an instant thermal envelope without altering structural building lines or losing internal space.
Black Mould & Internal Condensation
The Problem: Scrubbing black mould only treats the symptom; it returns every winter.
The Fix: Condensation is the primary root cause. By elevating wall surface temperatures, spray cork eliminates the thermal cold-bridge where airborne moisture settles and breeds mould.
Asbestos Encapsulation
The Problem: Complete removal is financially brutal, legally complex, and halts operations.
The Fix: Certified encapsulation data proves ReveCork seals hazardous fibers in place safely, meeting safety compliance standards without the cost or disruption of a full strip-out.
Coastal & Severe Weather Protection
The Problem: Salt air, driving rain, and freeze-thaw cycles rapidly degrade coastal masonry.
The Fix: ReveCork undergoes rigorous salt-spray chamber testing and extreme weather benchmarking, engineered specifically to withstand severe marine environments without peeling.
Longevity & Flexibility vs. Standard Paint
The Problem: Rigid masonry paint cracks and flakes within 2–3 years due to natural building expansion.
The Fix: High natural elasticity allows cork to stretch and flex alongside structural movement, preventing surface cracks and providing multi-year guaranteed protection.
Site Protection & Overspray Safeguards
The Problem: Fear of spray drift landing on vehicles, glass, or neighboring properties.
The Fix: We utilize strict masking protocols, containment netting, and low-pressure spray technology to ensure precise application with zero collateral damage.
Pebble Dash & Aged Render Preservation
The Problem: Hacking off sound pebble dash is messy, expensive, and risks wall damage.
The Fix: ReveCork acts as an asset-preservation system, spraying directly over sound aggregate to bind loose stones, stop water ingress, and modernize aesthetics in one move.
Substrate Compatibility: What We Can & Cannot Protect
What We Preserve & Protect:
Sound masonry, pebble dash, weathered render, brickwork, commercial metal cladding, weathered concrete, and stable asbestos sheets. Our systems bond directly to structurally sound surfaces to seal, insulate, and arrest further degradation.
What Cannot Be Coated Directly:
Structurally failed surfaces, friable/crumbly lime render without stabilization, active wet rot timber, untreated rust, or surfaces with ongoing unaddressed structural water leaks. We can re render where needed.
The Fix:
We perform a mandatory surface-integrity assessment before every project. If a substrate is unstable, we specify the exact stabilization or primer required first ensuring zero risk of coating delamination or structural failure.
